Tuesday 4th May

After the late nights and early mornings of the conference weekend and the hectic vocational day yesterday, we took advantage of the break in the schedule for a lie in this morning. We then gathered at the IBM cafeteria in Endicott (the grandest cafeteria I've ever seen!) for lunch and our presentation to the Endwell Rotary Club. Rotarians from other nearby clubs joined us for the meeting and it was great that they could make it along.

Following the meeting we toured the IBM museum. IBM was founded in Endicott from the amalgamation of several companies who dealt in time recording machines and scales. The tour guides gave a great history of the development of IBM over the years. Although there is still a large IBM site in the town, there are a fraction of the number of employees working at the site compared with it's heyday and many of the buildings stand empty.

A bit of retail therapy followed and in the evening dinner was hosted by Mark and Pat Kriebel. Suffice to say both the quantity and quality of food was excellent!
