Oneonta visits

Busy day so far, but with a nice slow start. We were collected at 10am and first went to visit a 911 call centre, which provides emergency response across Owego. It was really cool to hear about the type of calls they receive and how the staff deal with these, particularly across boundaries and where there are more than one type of response unit e.g. volunteer fire department vs state fire department. It sounded like they do a really interesting and varied job.

From here we visited the Centre for Self Expression in Oneonta, a really wonderful unit run by the Arc Otsego, which works with people who have intellectual and other disabilities to create artwork and other creative expressions. All of the work is offered for sale in the gallery - I bought 2 bunny-shaped tree decorations, no surprises there...

Spot the difference...?!

From here we stopped briefly for lunch at the Autumn Cafe - I've already been teased for posting about food so I will share with you this photo instead!

After lunch we then drove to Brewery Ommegang, back in Cooperstown for a brief tour and an ale tasting. Helen and I did end up giving most of our ale to Tom, who very admirably agreed to drink it for us.
We also stopped quickly in the little shop, where I was ecstatic to find Neuhaus chocolate, my favourite Belgian stuff.
