The presentation seemed to go well, although there were some inevitable first day nerves. The Rotarian's were incredibly supportive, and congratulated us at the end. All of the team have been presented with miniature baseball bats, and we've been warned that Barbara will use hers to calm down any misbehaving team members.
After the meeting we met our host families and spent the remainder of the day with them - Caroline, Helen and Barbara made a brief diversion to do some shopping first. I'd like to give a special mention to my hosts, Richard and Anne Blabey, who have been incredibly welcoming. Richard has told me about the fascinating history of Cooperstown, and the role played by the Clark Foundation (go read up on it, it's an interesting subject).
As James mentioned, we finished the day with Tim Hayes and his wonderful family. Apart from the team we were joined by Tom Lieber, Jim Atwell and Anne Geddes-Atwell. Caroline had a chance to demonstrate her professional skills by entertaining Tim's children, and we spent the night chatting and joking, with the occasional song thrown in for good measure. By the end we were all flagging a little (jet-lag caught up with us at last), so we headed back to our host families.
And to think you pulled faces when I tried to tell you of the wonder of bacon and maple syrup.
ReplyDeleteCustoms will let you take on small bottles of maple syrup. I brought tiny ones over to the UK on our trip. And yes, they definitely searched my bags! :)
ReplyDeleteOf course, that's IF you have room to put anything extra in your luggage on the way home!
